A decanter is a carafe that is used to decants wines or liqueurs: to decant means to pour slowly a liquid, generally wine, from a container to the other, in order to separate the liquid from eventual sediments. It's use to decant long aging wines, in which some solid components might have fallen in because of the aging itself, but it could be necessary to decant also the young wines that have not endured filtrations, in order to separate eventual sediments from the liquid.
The operation known as decantage is very important. The narrow neck of decanters does not allow immediate volatilization of the perfumes and the flavours of wine but preserves its bouquet. The shape, which is rather wide and pronounced at the terminal part of this precious object, enables considerable surface contact between air and wine, giving it perfect oxygenation.
All of these features make the use of LADY G decanters very professional and particularly suitable for important and great aged red wines and sometimes for some engaging white wines.
